Wild Wild West Sea Kayaking

Sea kayaking at the west coast of ScotlandThis trip will take you from Sleat in Skye along the coast of Skye, to Plockton, passed Applecross and further north. The coastline along the route is some of the best in the Scottish Highlands. The paddle will also take us to Kyle of Lochalsh, Red Point, Gairloch and even possible to get as far as Ullapool. This is an exiting trip with much wildlife to see, many steep sea cliffs on the way and the areas to paddle in are first sheltered and get more exposed as we paddle further north.
There are also some tide races in the area however we will try to paddle through them at the best time when the water is slack to going north with us.
Camping is usually wild camping but if the group wants to spend one or two nights of the trip at a campsite it can be arranged too.

Optional

We can also organise additional days at a Bed and Breakfast. We won't charge any commission for bookings.

Itinerary

Day 1

Drive to Skye or Mallaig, load the kayaks and start paddling. This day will take us passed some coastline in the Sound of Sleat and up to Sandaig Islands where we set up our first camp.

Day 2

Start in the morning at Sandaig. Heading north we go through Kyle Rhea, which is  with up to 8kn one of the fastest tide races in Scotland. However, we will get there at slack water and will take the north going tide for the rest of the day.

Day 3-6

These days are according to weather conditions and the speed we can paddle in a group. There are many little villages on the way and if needed we can use some camp sites instead of wild camping.

Day 7

Make that a shorter day to wind down and get back to the pickup place. Drive back to the B&B Inverness to be there for dinner.
