Intermediate Sea Kayaking Course
The Intermediate sea kayaking course is based at the summer Isles. This course is ideal for people who have been sea kayaking already and have had some exposure to 2 day trips but want to go a little beyond the usual and camp out and learn some more skills on the way. We also offer a 3 star assessment at the end of the course which is included in the price.
Itinerary
Day 1
Book into the B&B in Inverness enjoy the beautiful city. This is an ideal opportunity to meet other trip members. We will also meet you at the B&B, go through the required kit.
Day 2In the morning drive to Achiltibuie and check into the B&B there. Afterwards go through some skills which you want to learn and do T rescues and deep water rescues at the end.
If required we can go through some theory in the evening.
Day 3
Tidal planning and and weather in morning and the trip planning. This could be the plan for the expedition. In the afternoon some more skills and a short sea kayaking trip.
Day 4
Prepare for the expedition in the morning, pack all gear and final planning for the sea kayaking expedition. After a quick lunch start heading out for a short-ish trip (no more than 20km). Set up camp in the evening on a remote island and cook dinner.
Day 5
If the weather allows paddle out to Priest Island and discover some more of these little islands on the way. There is usually much wildlife to be seen. This could be a longer day with up to 30km depending on how everyone feels and how the weather is like.
Day 6
Start heading back after breakfast to be ack at Achiltibuie early afternoon. Sort out all the kit and then have a bit of mapreading and navigation theory.
Day 7
After the Breakfast have do the 3 star assessment. If the condition allows it, it could also be with some surfing at a beach near Achiltibuie. Late afternoon pack all the gear and head back to Inverness to stay anothe day in a B&B

Kit list
- Warm clothing no cotton T-shirts or jeans
- Change of clothing for after the trip

Sea kayaks, paddles, sprey deck, buoyancy aid and cagoul can be hired for £20 or £35 per day depending on quality of the sea kayak.
